who killed her. public works officials say they already had plans to launch a safety push... but those plans were sped up after jacobs was killed... come monday, they'll be passing out fliers reminding students to cross carefully... the intersection already has audio and visual crossing cues... but now, they're assessing whether more changes are needed. 'well likely do a pedestrian count, traffic counts, potentially a speed study but the elements havent been defined yet.' hit and killed rick hummel and randy sonnenburg... as they turned onto hubbell avenue. officers believe she was intoxicated... and going twice the speed limit at the time... she's now charged with two counts of vehicular homicide by o-w-i... she'll appear in polk county court this morning for her arraignment. a man charged in connection with the death of his daughter will also be in court today... 20 month old ruby alvarez was taken to the hospital with a fractured skull and broken ribs... back in november of 2014. her father... joe lopez... and his girlfriend said it's because she fell... but medical examiners say that's not possible. lopez is now charged with first degree murder and child endangerment. his trial is set to continue at nine this morning. we're now less than a month away from caucus time and area democrats are getting ready this morning... they're hosting a mock caucus tonight at home plate diner... all are welcome. the caucusing begins at six. meanwhile it's all republicans

with the epa's renewable fuels standard lowered from what it was supposed to be, the renewable fuel industry was happy to find two big successes last year. 2015 was a record breaker for ethanol production in iowa. more than four billion gallons were produced compared to the 3.9 billion in 2014. but according to the iowa renewable fuels association, while they're excited by the high production, they think they could do more. executive director monte shaw says, "while 2015 was a record year, we're excited about that, you know, we saw some incremental growth out of the plants. at the same time it was a little bit sad. because look at the rn sitting around. some of it's still outsidein piles being snowed on. we have the corn to produce a lot more hanol." at the end of 2014, a odies d llulosic ethanol tax credit expe took until last month to have that rened retroactively and tended r016. according to shaw, that causes a strain on producers in iowa, not knowingey'll get thcd or not.ving the certainty for this year should lp stabilize production.
